Francine Rivers always knew she would be a writer from the time she was a small child. After falling in love with Rick, getting
married, and having children, she began to get serious about her writing career. She would read cheesy romance novels and
tell her husband that she could do a better job. So, Rick challenged her to live up to her word and write a novel. She proved
herself, and Rick encouraged her to write full-time. She actually started getting recognition for her work and got a few
books published. However, she still felt that something was missing in her life. After moving to a new neighborhood, she
and her husband were invited to a church by a young boy on the block. Francine actually grew up in church, but it all seemed
like a routine to her. She had to have complete control over her life, especially her writing career. That was something
too precious to turn over to just anyone. But when she and her husband visited this church, they began hungering for a deeper
relationship with the Lord. Francine recognized her need for Christ, and so she surrendered her whole life to Him-- yes,
even her writing. Then something unexpected happened: she experienced writer's block for about four years. Suddenly, nothing
she wrote could get published or turned out the way she had intended. She committed to honor the Lord in everything she wrote,
intending to show God's love to her readers in every novel she turned out. That's when her big break came. Her first "reborn"
novel was Redeeming Love, a retelling of the Old Testament book Hosea. From there, her writing career has continued to blossom.
